We have said it before, but VoIP phones can and will save you money. They can make telephone calls virtually free all over the world simply by using a computer and the Internet.
VoIP Telephony has been listed as one of the top 20 ways to save money online by Moneywise. All that you need is VoIP software, Internet access, headphones and a microphone. If both parties on the call are using VoIP, then the call shouldn’t cost a penny.
VoIP is especially useful and will be particularly beneficial if you make a lot of international calls and gives an alternative to landline and mobile calls. Telecoms companies will be shaking in their boots as international calls have been traditionally decent money earners and VoIP will threaten this.
Hang on, hang on – have you actually ever checked how much Skype charges to make phone calls to mobile phones? Skype charges a connection fees and a BT minimum charge, heaped upon them by the incumbent mobile network provider. Here in the UK Skype requires from their users to pay an 8p minimum BT charge, add the connection fee to that.
Further, if you don’t have a computer in front of you or you haven’t purchased a VOIP phone, you will want to use your mobile phone. As far as I can see http://www.kangatel.co.uk is the cheapest provider in the UK.

- no use of inclusive minutes, because this is the greatest con of all.
Most people don’t realise that they in fact pay for their inclusive minutes.
So my vote is with Kangatel over any VOIP solution, they are most of the time a lot cheaper than VOIP providers.

Hi Neil, we are talking business communications here, Neil. Compared with the costs an average SME racks up in call charges via traditional PBX telephone systems, VoIP stands out as a clear winner. Plus the potential to integrate a IP based phone system with the rest of the technology in the business opens up a wide range of money-saving possibities.
Also, the article states that if BOTH parties use VoIP then it won’t cost a penny – no one said anything about phoning internationally located mobile phones or even landline phones. There iPhone apps available now, for free, that users can download that will allow free calls to other users and not cost an extra penny.
